Tai Chi, not just for relaxation/adding exercise variety

When creating your own exercise program it is important to have variety. If not, you might find yourself plateauing due to either boredom or your body not being challenged enough. What are some ways that you add spice to your exercise routine? I for example enjoy tai chi. 20 minutes of Tai Chi for a warm-up instead of the recumbent bike and I am almost ready to go home.
